Hot Cross Buns - EASTER RECIPE



Hot Cross Buns are a traditional baked treat, served during the Easter holiday period. A sweet dough is seasoned with a light mix of spices, mixed with dried fruit and baked to create the classic Hot Cross Buns that have been popular for decades - give it a go!

INGREDIENTS IN THIS DISH:

Buns:
4 Cups of Plain Flour
1/3 Cup of Caster Sugar (Super Fine White Sugar)
2 Teaspoons of Mixed Spice
7g Sachet of Dried Yeast (about 2 Teaspoons)
200g of Mixed Dried Fruit (or chocolate chips if preferred)
Pinch of Salt
1 1/2 Cups of Warm Milk
60g Butter (melted)
1 Egg (lightly beaten)
2 Teaspoons of Apricot Jam (melted)

Crosses:
1/3 Cup of Plain Flour
1/4 Cup of Water


Preparation Time: 20 minutes (plus rising time)
Cooking Time: 25 minutes

MAKES 16 HOT CROSS BUNS
