Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee - RECIPE



Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee is an elegant, restaurant style dessert that is reasonably easy to make at home. A delicious home made custard is made with cream, eggs and vanilla bean paste and baked in a water bath. Chilled then topped with a hard toffee coating, this amazing sweet treat will impress your dinner party guests - give it a go!

RECIPE FACT SHEET

INGREDIENTS IN THIS DISH:

2 Cups (600ml) of Cream (any cream suitable for whipping)
1/3 Cup of Caster Sugar (Super Fine White Sugar)
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Bean Paste
5 Egg Yolks
Extra Caster Sugar (for topping)


Preparation Time:  About 10 minutes
Cooking Time: About 35 minutes
Chilling Time: Overnight (at least 6 hours minimum)


MAKES 2 LARGE OR 4 SMALL CREME BRULEES

PLEASE NOTE: You can replace the Vanilla Bean Paste with an equal amount of Vanilla Extract / Essence or 1 Vanilla Pod.

If using a Vanilla Pod, split the pod down the middle and scrape the seeds out with a knife. Add pod and seeds to cream mixture. Remove pod after simmering and discard.


ALL MEASUREMENTS GIVEN ARE AUSTRALIAN STANDARD METRIC
(Look up Google for a conversion chart if using Imperial)

I made this for the first time a few weeks ago, it was easy and my partner thought it was great (I don't eat sweets, lol).
